Innovate project supplies needed...

The troop needs your help!  We are trying to gather supplies for our INNOVATE project to begin this Sunday at 2:00pm.  If you are able to donate a vinyl tablecloth (any size)--the ones with the cotton backing--any design works for this project-- and/or a package/roll of adhesive velcro, please let me know!  The girls hope to make 200 of the reusable sandwich bags to donate to our community on March 17th.  If every girl could provide at least one tablecloth, we would not have to dip into troop funds to buy these.  If you know a business that might donate some (maybe Christmas or Valentines tablecloths that are on clearance)  PLEASE ask them!  The girls will get so much from this project:  they will learn a little about sewing, about using everyday materials to make something new, and the benefits of reusable materials.  Better yet they will get to share this new knowledge with the community...THEY will be the givers and the teachers at Going Green Day at Cameron Park Zoo.

Also, remember that Sunday is the last day to turn in your recyclables for the recycle badge.  Items that count are printer cartridges, old cell phones, old digital cameras, old Ipods, old MP3 players, and anything with an internal rechargable battery.

Exciting end to our Get Moving Journey

All cookie money must be turned in by This Friday!
Then we can move on to our innovate project!!
Sunday, March 4th from 2-4pm we will have our next meeting to sew/make as many recyclable sandwich bags as possible in two hours. Then on Saturday, March 17th we will take part in Cameron Park Zoo's Going Green Day by educating our community on the benefits of using recyclable sandwich bags instead of the traditional plastic ziploc bags which take about 1000 years to break down in our landfills. We will have a great time giving away our homemade bags-estimating the number of bags we saved from the landfills by doing so and helping make our world a better place.
If you are able to donate or know someone or a business who will donate new (thick) shower curtains or shower curtain liners or similar material- please let me know. We are also looking for donations of self adhesive Velcro. Thanks!!

Cookie time has been fun

We have had lots of fun and even had a candidate for Sheriff stop to buy cookies...

Help needed by all

We have 5 days left to sell cookies....as a troop we have about 243 boxes of cookies left to sell.  What does that mean?  Everyone must sell all cookies in their possession AND we have to work together to sell at least 200 of the cookies left in troop inventory or we will not receive our troop profit from cookie sales of around $850.00.  So how are we going to do this?
1.  EVERYONE should contact me today to pickup a few boxes of cookies that you are CERTAIN you can sell today and tomorrow.
2.  EVERYONE should plan to come to the Dollar General in China Spring on Thursday from 4:30 until ? to work together as a troop to sell as many cookies as we can.
3.  The rest of the cookies will be handed out to the girls signed up for booths on Friday and Saturday.  Consider going to these booths-even if you are not signed up in order to help our troop sell all its inventory.

Friday's booth is at the Family Dollar Store in China Spring from 4pm to 8pm.
Saturday's booth is at Belk in Waco from 10am to noon.

I listed the ones we have the most of first so these are the ones we really need to push at the booths.
What we have:
49 PB Sandwiches
43 Thanks-A-Lots
42 Shoutouts
31 Caramel Delites
28 PB Patties
22 Lemonades
14 Thin Mints
12 Shortbread

Let's all work together to make this a fully successful cookie selling year.

Must have tonight at 6:15

Reminder we have a meeting tonight from 6:15-7:30.  Please bring items listed at the end of the post titled "Cookie Problems".

Sorry for the last minute notice on this...we must go ahead and register for CAMPOREE.  We will not be camping overnight this year but we will be attending the Girl Scout event at Sherwood Forest in McDade, Texas, from 9AM to 5PM on Saturday, April 21, 2012.  The cost is $10 and must be paid tonight at the meeting to hold your daughter's spot-no exceptions-because I must register the girls who will be attending tonight after the meeting.

Our troop does still have cookies to sell.  If you have additional booths and need more cookies--come prepared tonight with a list of what you can sell.  If you do not have anymore booths and have leftover cookies that you know you cannot sell, bring them to the meeting tonight.  Otherwise, bring money from cookies you have sold and/or a list of the cookies you still have to sell so we can know exactly where all of the cookies are that belong to our troop.

see you tonight.

Cookie problems

Our troop has been reported twice now for not following rules regarding booth sales.  This has impacted our ability to sell cookies next year.  For any remaining booths, you must have two adults supervising the booth with the girls.  If one adult is late, the girl and adult there CANNOT sell cookies until 2 adults are present.  Therefore, it is imperative that you show up to your booths and show up on time.  If you cannot go, it is imperative that you notify me or one of the other troop leaders immediately so that a replacement can be found.  No one contacted me this weekend with a time to pick up additional cookies so I am sending them all back today.  We have 11 days left- please sell all you have and turn in your money as soon as possible.  We have a meeting Wednesday at 6:15pm until 7:30.  This will be our only meeting this month and we will complete our February requirement for the 100 years of scouting badge.  There is no make-up to this meeting, therefore if your girl is not there, then she does not have the ability to earn the 100 year badge.  Remember to bring your physical fitness results from January's 100 years of scouting badge requirements, all money you have for deposit, any recyclables your daughter has collected for our recyclables project, and all booth sales reports (tick marks of kinds of cookies sold at each booth sale).
Thanks,  Gwen
